ABOUT THE BOOK:

Will Leah Fisher find love because of a buggy accident?

Could love soften her heart so that she is able to see her answered prayers in Naomi Yoder or will she drive a wedge between her father and the only woman he has shown interest in since Elisabeth Fisher’s death?

Leah Fisher lost her mother ten years ago. She is rapidly approaching womanhood and the lack is becoming more difficult every day.

Will she be able to recognize love when it’s right in front of her?

Could love be the key to Leah opening her heart, making room for the woman her father intends to marry… or will she stubbornly cling to the memory of her own mother?

Will Leah be able to let go of her own ideas and realize that God truly does know best for her or will she allow love to slip through her fingers, destroying Samuel Fisher and Naomi Yoder’s happiness at the same time?

AUTHOR Q&A

Author Q & A – Rachel L Miller author

1. The big question that everyone wants to know: is Rachel L Miller your real name or are you just using it as a pen name to sound more Amish?

Yes, Rachel Miller is my real name. Technically speaking, the L makes my name a pen name because I don’t use it in everyday life, but my middle initial does begin with an L. And before you ask… No, I’m not telling what my middle name is.

2. How did you begin writing Amish-themed stories?

My mother challenged me to write Amish fiction.

3. Do you think you could become Amish?

Much of my current lifestyle is nearly as plain as an Amish life. The only real difficulties for me would be giving up my computer since I need it to write. It would also be somewhat difficult to let my readers know about things if I could not use the internet.

4. Have you visited many Amish communities?

I have visited several communities in several states and I look forward to visiting more.

5. What is is you love so much about the plain folks?

There are so many things. I love how moral they are, how kind the people are, how close-knit the communities.

6. Is there another genre you write or have considered writing?

I also write Fantasy under a pen name.

7. When do you typically write?

Typically, I get up hours before everyone else. Since moving, I’ve not been able to get back into that routine, but I am working on it.

8. What is something you must have when writing?

COFFEE! Music!

9. What do you think of the current trends in Christian fiction?

I appreciate how broad a range of subjects is becoming accepted into Christian fiction, but I do worry a bit about the more edgy fiction that is making its way into the genre. I worry that some fiction is not clean enough, inspirational enough or uplifting enough to the genre justice. (that’s just my own personal opinion)

10. What can you tell me about your next project?

I am working on the next book in the Windy Gap series and I am very excited about it. I can hardly wait to share more with loyal fans and readers!

BEHIND THE SCENES:

10 THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT A Mother for Leah
      THE INFO BELOW CONTAINS SPOILERS!

1. The prologue for A Mother for Leah did not exist in the rough draft. It was added later—then removed at the request of an interested agent, then added back in at the request of the agent Rachel signed with.

2. Initially, Leah was a very unlikeable character. Fortunately, with edits (and the addition of a secondary romance), Leah became the charming, sweet girl we see in the final story.

3. The name of Leah’s father’s love interest changed four times before the author settled on Naomi.

4. A Mother for Leah is book 1 in a series. At the moment, there are three books proposed and contracted.

5. There is a companion series proposed, though it has not been finalized at this time.

6. A Mother for Leah takes place in upstate New York and, though Windy Gap is a fictional community that the author created, there are “real” Amish settlements in the area that inspired this novel and several others.

7. Leah is mentioned briefly in Naomi Miller‘s Lemon Tart Mystery – book 3 of her Amish Sweet Shop Mystery series. And yes, before you ask, a crossover has been discussed with the authors

8. The shop in Windy Gap named Sew Sweet is not a misspelling. It is an intentional play on words because the neighboring shops “Sew Sweet” and “SewNice” are owned by quirky sisters who thought it was a clever marketing ploy that customers would enjoy.

9. A Mother for Leah was written during Rachel’s very first NaNoWriMo session. (Yes, she won)

10. Rachel was introduced to Amish fiction (as a reader) and to the idea of writing Amish fiction—by her mother

Book Review | An Unbroken Heart by Kathleen Fuller

“An argument. A crash. In an instant, Joanna’s world is changed forever.”

They say you can’t judge a book by its cover… but can you judge a book by its tagline?

I think so!

Of course, it probably doesn’t hurt that each and every book I have read by Kathleen Fuller is AH-Mazing!

She writes believably about REAL life! She pulls the reader right into her characters’ world… into their story… even into their head.

She writes about tragic events, cautious decision and difficult circumstances – and through it all, she shows that if her characters hold tight to their faith, they can accomplish even the most impossible goals!

Even wrapped in tragedy, the hope and beauty shines through Kathleen’s latest story: An Unbroken Heart – Tweet this!

I hope you’ll give it a chance (of course I always suggest reading a series from the very beginning) – and I really hope you enjoy each story as much as I have!

Happy Reading!

{MORE ABOUT An Unbroken Heart}

An argument. A crash. In an instant, Joanna’s world is changed forever.

One minute, Joanna Schrock was arguing with her parents, and the next, her parents’ lives were claimed in a hit-and-run buggy accident.

Her body is broken, but her heart is in even deeper pain — after all, how do you cope with your parents’ deaths when your last words were spoken in anger?

After an extended stint in a physical rehabilitation center, Joanna re-enters her Amish life. But nothing is the same — not even her feelings for Andrew Beiler.

Joanna has loved Andrew since the age of twelve, and her feelings have not changed throughout the years. She is thrilled when Andrew wants to get married, but she wonders whether it’s love he’s feeling, or pity. As the couple’s wedding date approaches, Joanna isn’t overcome with the deep joy she was hoping to feel; instead, she’s wracked with anxiety and guilt.

Joanna hears God whispering to her, Be strong and courageous, but she’s afraid that courage looks a lot like walking away from her dreams and into the plan of her Heavenly Father. If Joanna takes the first step toward healing, will it cost her everything she’s ever wanted? Or could God be changing the desires of her heart?

I’ve never been much of a pianist myself- though I do take lessons – but thanks to Cynthia’s excellent writing, I can easily relate to the main character in this story.

I cannot begin to imagine how I would go on if I were forced to stop writing . . . but it’s easy to put myself in Lucy’s shoes.

Despite the apparent loss of hope,  it is a wonderful story – one I highly recommend!

Book Review | “Amish Sweethearts” by Leslie Gould – book 2 in the Neighbors of Lancaster County series

Be aware that this is book 2 in the series. I have not yet reviewed book 1, but I plan to go back and read it… and I recommend you do as well.

I still remember watching a movie made from one of the first Amish stories I read.

A lot of people I knew, thought it was ridiculous that the young man felt compelled to join the military…

They would probably say the same thing here.

Amish or not… when God calls you to do something, you have to make the choice between what you want and what you know God wants you to do.

That is a large part of this story.

And WELL DONE Leslie Gould!

She told the story well… blending the Amish aspects and the English aspects – as well as the military aspects – to form a well crafted story with wonderful characters.

Not a book you should miss… especially if you enjoy Amish fiction!

Of course… I always recommend you read a series in order, so you should definitely check out the first book in this series; Amish Promises.

Can These Two Friends from Opposite Worlds Find Love?

They’ve been best friends for years, but as high school ends, Zane Beck can’t help but look at his Amish neighbor, Lila Lehman, with different eyes. Her controlling father sees only one future for Lila, though, and arranges for her to be courted by an upstanding young Amish man. When Zane sees the two together, his plans for the future crumble, and he impulsively enlists in the Army, following in his father’s footsteps.

However, the passing of years and the distance between them isn’t enough to halt their now hidden feelings for each other. If being together used to be difficult, it’s now impossible, especially with the Amish opposed to war. Zane’s service takes a dramatic turn when he’s sent to Afghanistan. Being on the front line and the reality of taking a life has him questioning whether he can continue to serve or not. But all choices have consequences–both his and hers. With Lila preparing to marry another, will these one-time sweethearts ever find the life together that they both still long for?

Book Review | The Forgotten Recipe | Amy Clipston

Another FANTASTIC story from the amazingly talented Amy Clipston!

Leave it to Amy to show us the depth of emotion that tragedy will uncover in humanity.

The future looks perfect for Veronica Fisher until an accident changes her life… forever.

And then there’s Jason – who wishes he could find a way to comfort Veronica… if only it were so easy.

This is a very different type story than any other I’ve read by Amy and I am intrigued by this new series. I can hardly wait to read more!

Don’t MISS IT!

After losing her fiancé in a tragic accident, Veronica Fisher finds solace in the old recipes stored in her mother’s hope chest — and in a special visitor who comes to her bake stand to purchase her old-fashioned raspberry pies.

Veronica Fisher knows how lucky she is to be marrying her best friend. Seth Lapp is kind, hardworking, and handsome — but most importantly, he loves Veronica.

When an accident on the job steals Seth away from her, a heartbroken Veronica is certain she will never love — or be loved—again. Yet when she discovers a batch of forgotten recipes and opens a bake stand to sell her Mammi’s raspberry pies, Veronica picks up a regular customer who gives her heart pause.

Jason Huyard was with Seth when he lost his life — a memory that haunts him still. So when he seeks out the grieving fiancée to convey his condolences, the last thing he expects — or wants — is to fall in love. Nonetheless, Jason soon finds himself visiting Veronica’s bake stand every week . . . and it’s for more than the raspberry pies.

My review of “An Amish Christmas Gift” by Amy Clipston, Ruth Reid, and Kelly Irvin

OK… just look at the cover and tell me you don’t want to read this book!

You can’t… can you?

I knew it!

I have been anxiously awaiting this one! Chomping at the bit actually!

Since you just read my review for Kelly Irvin’s latest in the Amish of Bee County – I’m going to start there!

A Christmas Visitor by Kelly Irvin

And – OH the irony… NEVERMIND! Forget I said that! There’s absolutely nothing ironic about that.

On to the story.

As with the story in The Bishop’s Son, our heroine has some tough decisions ahead of her. And like most Amish stories, her well-meaning family are doing everything they can to be “supportive”.

And by supportive, I mean they want to make sure Frannie understands just how important it is that she make the “right” decision.

Reading about the blazing heat of Texas might not be what you have in mind for a Christmas book but it’s well worth the read! And it just might help warm you up on those crazy cold nights… unless you live in Texas that is.

Naomi’s Gift by Amy Clipston

I can’t help feeling a bit of a kinship with Naomi – unlucky in love… picking the wrong guy… twice… feeling like all hope is lost…

Granted, I’m not 24 anymore and I have two children of my own already, but there are so many little things about Naomi and her lot in life that remind me of myself.

I think a lot of readers will find the same true of themselves. We all have to deal with disappointments and disaster where love is concerned.

And now I have to apologize to Kelly and Any because, once again, Ruth has stolen the show!

An Unexpected Joy by Ruth Reid is THE BEST story in the book (in my humble opinion).

WOW!

WOW! WOW! WOW!

I picked up the story and COULD NOT put it down! Gabby Abby and Micah butt heads and rub each other the wrong way constantly.

Like the other two novellas, Abigail is certain she’s not destined for love or marriage. She has an idea that she can gain some independence at least and make some sort of happiness for herself with her own horse.

Like every other guy in the district, Micah has no patience for Abigail’s “gift of gab” but soon he – NO! I’m not going to tell you. Just trust me. Read it!

You’ll LOVE THEM ALL!

Yes! I whipped out the candy canes already! Can you think of anything else to rate these GREAT stories with…

More from Thomas Nelson about An Amish Christmas Gift:

Naomi’s Gift by Amy Clipston

Naomi has started to think that she isn’t meant to find love, but she might receive more than she ever hoped for this Christmas.

Twenty-four-year-old Naomi King, who has been burned twice by love, has all but given up on marriage and children. As Christmas approaches a time of family, faith, and hope for many others Naomi is more certain than ever her life will be spent as an old maid, helping with the family s quilting business and taking care of her eight siblings. Then she meets Caleb, a young widower with a 7-year-old daughter, and her world is once again turned upside-down.

An Unexpected Joy by Ruth Reid

Abigail has driven other suitors away, but can Micah find a way to show her he cares?

Abigail Kemp has managed to frighten off every bu who’s ever driven her home from a singing. Sure she will live to be an old maid, Abigail starts saving her money to buy a horse so she can at least have some independence.

Micah Zook is looking for a caregiver for his grandmother, and Abigail needs a new job. He never expected that Abigail would talk so much . . . or that his grandmother would keep finding ways to set the two of them up.

Despite Abigail’s constant chatter, she and Micah become friends until Micah makes a decision that leaves Abigail feeling betrayed. With Christmas in their midst, can Micah find a way to reconcile with Abigail and to reveal what’s on his heart?

A Christmas Visitor by Kelly Irvin

Frannie Mast returns to Bee County for Christmas, but her heart stays back in Missouri with an Englisch farm boy.

Frannie knows her parents have the best of intentions when they send her back to Bee County, Texas, to live with her aunt Abigail and her husband Mordecai. After all, she knows nothing can come of a relationship with Rocky, the handsome but Englisch farmer boy back in Missouri. It’s best to put those feelings aside, no matter how hard it is. But all bets are off when Rocky follows Frannie to Texas to plead his case. Could he be the Christmas gift to end all gifts?”

Book Review | The Bishop’s Son by Kelly Irvin | The Amish of Bee County

I was almost a very unhappy lady this past week. UPS sent me a notification that my package was on the way. I waited all day for it to arrive. Nothing…

Then I got a message that it had been rescheduled.

I had to wait two more days to get my hands on this book, but it was worth EVERY second.

Another triumph for Kelly Irvin!

Kelly certainly doesn’t write easy, sweet, cutesie stories. Her plots are intense, her characters are deep, and her solutions are never quite what you’re expecting.

Make of that what you will – I’m not spoiling the book for you!

Don’t try to make me!

Have you ever been in a situation where you see your life going in to different directions? Bother paths have appealing aspects and both have struggles you’d rather not face. Which do you choose? HOW do you choose?

How will Leila choose? Well, to find out – you have to read the book. And I think you’ll LOVE it! But then I’m somewhat biased because I LOVE IT!

And I’m already looking forward to the next book! Hurry Kelly!

Read it! Love it! Share it!

More from Zondervan about The Bishop’s Son:

Two men offer Leila two very different futures. Will she choose with her heart or with her faith?

Leila Lantz has been in love with Jesse Glick from the day she first saw him at his father’s store, but she can’t make sense of his intentions. One day he wants to come courting, the next he seems to be putting distance between them.

Jesse may be the bishop’s son, but his faith has been wavering of late. If he is so unsure, is it fair to give Leila false hope for a future he doubts he can provide?

Then there’s Will, Jesse’s cousin. He has been trying to keep his feelings for Leila a secret, but he also knows Jesse is wrestling with his faith. Would declaring his feelings for Leila be in her best interest or simply serving his own selfish desires?

Leila knows she can choose Will and be secure in her own future. But when her heart speaks, it’s Jesse’s name she hears. When will God make His will known to her?

Could leaving everything she knows—even her own faith—be a part of God’s plan?

Book Review | A Reluctant Bride by Kathleen Fuller

OK, anyone who follows my own writing knows how ironic this title is for me… and that’s all I’m going to say about it. 😉

This is definitely not the typical Amish romance.

But… WOW!

And I mean WOW!

Not only do we get a romance – granted a bit odd, but still a romance, we get suspense and even a bit of a scandal – and that is out of character for the typical Amish romance.

Bit it’s just too good to miss!

{MORE ABOUT A Reluctant Bride}

She never wanted to marry. He hopes to make amends for past wrongs. Can love find a way to heal both of their hearts?

Sadie Schrock swore she would never marry. All of her other Amish friends could court and marry—she was content to manage the family business and eventually take it over when her parents are ready to retire. But all of that changes when a reckless driver kills both of her parents and seriously injures her younger sister. With mounting hospital bills adding to the pile of debt her parents left behind, Sadie is left with no choice: she must marry. And not just any man—the man who saw her at her weakest and walked away.

Aden knows what his brother did to Sadie years ago was inexcusable. And every day since that incident, Aden has lived with the guilt for not intervening sooner. When he is faced with the chance to protect Sadie once again, he can’t let her down—even if it means living with the scorn of the woman he loves for the rest of his life.

Working alongside Aden at the store, Sadie realizes he isn’t the same boy who once betrayed her. Just when Sadie starts to let her guard down and perhaps develop feelings for her new husband, dangerous secrets are revealed. Now everything Sadie has worked so hard to protect is threatened, and she must find a way to save her family—and herself.

Book Review | A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn by Shelley Shepard Gray | Book 3 in the Amish Brides of Pinecraft series

A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn, the third book in Shelley Shepard Gray’s Amish Brides of Pinecraft series is another wonderful story.

As with so many of Shelley’s books, Emma Keim and Jay Hilty are so very real, so very normal… and oh so interesting!

They’ve both lost spouses and with three children each, the most logical solution seems to be getting married.

But it can’t be that easy… It may be fiction but it’s very true to how reality works. Life simply doesn’t work out that easily most of the time.

Things happen to make it difficult… Unforseen circumstances pop up… Even family can make things rough. Not saying anymore. That’s all you get from the synopsis and I will not ruin the story for you. Read it. I’m confident you’ll love it!

Shelley writes such wonderful Amish romances but she doesn’t take the easy road – which I greatly admire!

OK… OK… I’ll stop torturing you. You know everything has to work out for the best – right? It is a romance. 😉

I will also take this opportunity to say, if you haven’t read books 1: The Promise of Palm Grove and 2: The Proposal at Siesta Key, you should!

And there’s ANOTHER book coming soon too! Can you tell I’m excited…?

A Wedding at the Orange Blossom Inn (Avon Inspire, September 2015)

In the third book in New York Timesbestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray’s Amish Brides of Pinecraft series, a wedding brings together two young widowed parents . . . and gives them a second chance at love.

Emma Keim was heartbroken when her husband, Sanford, passed away, leaving her to raise three young daughters alone.

Though several years have passed, her relatives have made it no secret that they expect Emma to remain a widow, mourning Sanford indefinitely.

But when she meets Jay Hilty — a handsome widower with three young sons of his own — Emma is delighted to have a new friend who understands her struggles.

Still, she is dismayed that her family is so opposed to their friendship — and the idea of it ever becoming anything more. She honors her husband’s memory every day, but is she destined to be alone forever?

Emma’s gentleness with Jay’s boys stirs something in his heart that’s been quiet for far too long. But when his oldest son becomes engaged to a local woman, suddenly Jay, Emma, and their children are swept up in wedding preparations.

Witnessing his son’s joy, Jay wonders if it’s time for him to move forward, too, and find happiness again.

Once again, love has come to Pinecraft. But can these two parties of four become a happy, healthy family of eight?

“Her Brother’s Keeper” by Beth Wiseman

WOW! Nothing  like I was expecting…

I really mean NOTHING!

From the first words of the synopsis, to the last page of the book – I was HOOKED!

Beth Wiseman is an incredibly talented author… WOW!

This story will pull you right in and you’ll have to force yourself out of it, literally!

I’m not going to spoil the story for you but I will say this… Beth Wiseman makes it really tricky to know who you want to root for here…

Do you root for the grieving sister who has no real idea what happened with her brother…?

Or do you root for the grieving ex-fiance who is struggling to figure out whether she will get to see Ethan in the hereafter…?

It’s NOT an easy decision – and if you’re anything like me, you’ll switch sides a dozen times while reading.

DO NOT MISS THIS BOOK!

Here is a brief synopsis from Thomas Nelson:

Charlotte came to Amish country to find answers. What she never expected to find was peace.

Charlotte Dolinsky is not above playing dress-up and telling a few lies to find out what happened to her only brother. In fact, that is exactly what she’s come to Lancaster County to do. Now, calling herself Mary and slipping on a kapp, Charlotte will lie her way into the confidence of anyone who knows why Ethan had to die. Unless she gets found out first.

But when Charlotte befriends a quiet Amish man named Isaac Miller, she begins to rethink her motives. And with a little help from a friend back home, Charlotte might find out that love comes packaged in ways she couldn’t have foreseen.

Isaac’s been caring for his cancer-stricken father and sympathizing with his frustrated mother for three difficult years. And that means he hasn’t been dating. He believes Hannah King is the woman for him, but Hannah is still grieving the loss of her fiancé, and Isaac has all he can handle on the farm. When Hannah’s family plays host to a woman named Mary, their new cousin shakes things up for all of them.

As Charlotte digs deeper into the mystery of Ethan’s death, she finds more than she’d bargained for in the community he once called home. But will she ever learn the truth? And what will the community—and her new family—do if they learn the truth about her?

“The Amish Clockmaker” by Mindy Starns Clark and Susan Meissner

A decades old mystery… A murder… A border dispute…

Not exactly what you expect from an Amish novel…

Mindy Starns Clark and Susan Meissner definitely have a HIT on their hands!

The story starts out innocently enough – with a small dispute about the boundaries of property.

But it’s not long before you will find yourself pulled into a mystery, and a mystery you would never expect from as plain and quiet a community as the Amish.

Matthew Zook has little choice but to follow the clues and try to get to the bottom of this mystery that Mindy and Susan take us on.

You won’t want to put this book down… at least until you get to the last page – and you may find yourself disappointed when you reach that last page… just because the story is over.

A MUST read!

Here is a brief synopsis from Harvest House

From bestselling authors Mindy Starns Clark and Susan Meissner, The Amish Clockmaker (Book 3 in the Men of Lancaster County series) explores the men of an Amish community in Lancaster County, how their Amish beliefs play out in their unique roles, and the women who change their lives.

Newlywed Matthew Zook is expanding his family’s tack and feed store when a surprising property dispute puts the remodel on hold—and raises new questions about the location’s mysterious past.

Decades earlier, the same building housed a clock shop run by a young Amish clockmaker named Clayton Raber. Known for his hot temper, Clayton was arrested for the murder of his beloved wife, a crime almost everyone—including his own family members—believed he’d committed, even after charges were dropped. Isolated and feeling condemned by all, Clayton eventually broke from the church, left Lancaster County, and was never heard from again.

Now the only way Matthew can solve the boundary issue and save his family’s business is to track down the clockmaker. But does this put Matthew on the trail of a murderer?

A timeless novel of truth, commitment, and the power of enduring love, where secrets of the past give way to hope for the future.

Don’t miss book 2 of Shelley Shepard Gray’s new series, Amish Brides of Pinecraft: The Proposal at Siesta Key!

Romantic Times said, “There are some words of wisdom in Gray’s latest, such as the importance of embracing and cherishing each moment and the fact that “Sometimes the hardest path to take is the only path worth walking on.”

The Proposal at Siesta Key

I JUST LOVE how close these wonderful books release!

It’s so hard; finding a new series that you just LOVE and having to wait a YEAR between releases… But, thankfully, Shelley knows her readers are impatient.

🙂

Shelley Shepard Gray has another HIT series on her hands! The Proposal at Siesta Key is JUST as GREAT as The Promise of Palm Grove and I can hardly wait for the next one!

I LOVE Shelley’s books! And I LOVE how she presents the social/personal issues she brings into the story!

I’m late! I’m late! Shame on me… and such an AWESOME book to be late on! | wagging finger in my own face…

I can not believe I’m late reviewing THIS book! Jennifer – you should smack me.

But seriously… I thought I had already reviewed it. It was only when I went looking for the review that I realized why it wasn’t there.

OOPS!

I know I literally say this about every book Jennifer puts out but I seriously think this is my favorite so far!

And… Oh my word how do I write this review without giving anything away…

I don’t know how Jennifer does it – I mean she comes up with these wonderful stories that are full of such life and good humor and faith – and there are no two alike!

I especially like the new direction Jennifer took with this one! It’s the first time Felty has gotten into the act (I’m not spoiling anything … it’s in the sneak peek in the back of Huckleberry Spring)

One other thing I LOVE about Jennifer is that she is not shy at all about tackling serious issues! She brings them to light and shows her readers just how dangerous these things can be!

AMAZING!

So… not only will Huckleberry Harvest make you laugh, it will make you think. It will also make you frustrated at how thick-headed some people can be and sigh over how exciting love can be!

In short, it’s great, it’s humorous, it’s exciting, it’s REAL!

I did say it’s the best one yet right… ? Yes, I thought I did! So, what are you waiting for? GO… get your copy! Don’t miss it!!!

And, as usual, I can hardly wait to start the next one! Especially since I read the sneak peek!

More from Kensington about Huckleberry Harvest:

Mandy Helmuth doesn’t like Noah Mischler. Not one little bit. First he breaks her best friend’s heart, and then he has the nerve to chastise her for being a busybody. She feels quite justified in her dislike until Noah does something heroic, like save her life, and she’s forced to bestow her grudging respect even as she determines to keep her distance. But when she unwittingly stumbles into his family troubles, she catches a glimpse of the person Noah so successfully hides from others. Will Mandy be able to look past Noah’s rough and unyielding exterior to see the man she is destined to love?

Much to Noah Mischler’s annoyance, uppity Mandy Helmuth thinks she has the right to tell him how to live his life. If he weren’t helping Mandy’s grandfather install a stove and fix his roof, Noah wouldn’t be within a mile of Huckleberry Hill or that nosy girl who gives him a lecture every time she opens her mouth. But when Mandy discovers the horrible truth about his father, Noah is forced to reveal humiliating secrets that he’s never shared with anyone. He trusts her with his secrets, but can he trust her with his heart?

Book 4 in Amy Clipston’s Hearts of the Lancaster Grand Hotel series releases TODAY!

A Simple Prayer is the long awaited 4th novel in Amy Clipston’s “The Hearts of the Lancaster Grand Hotel” series and it releases TODAY! Yes, I got an early look! I LOVE being a book reviewer!

A Simple Prayer by Amy CLipston

This has been one of my absolute favorite series!

In A Hopeful Heart, Hannah met Trey… and had to face a very hard decision.

In A Mother’s Secret, single mother, Carolyn (not something you typically read in an Amish novel by the way) the love of her life… it just takes some time to figure that out.

Their story is continued in “An Amish Cradle” – in Amy’s novella: “A Son for Always” by the way…

In A Dream of Home, we meet our most unlikely couple and we get to watch them go through such an unexpected courtship. It’s so very exciting!

The final book in this series is every bit as wonderful as the other three…

And what a powerful story.

Amy has a particular talent for writing characters who are so beautifully flawed. I’m not just talking about Linda Zook either…

You’re not going to want to put this book down!

Come watch the sparks fly between Linda Zook and Aaron Ebersol. You won’t want to miss a second of the show.

And those aren’t the only sparks in this story – There is quite a bit of friction between Aaron and his brother Solomon as well.

You won’t regret it!

Happy Reading!

Here is what Zondervan has to say about A Simple Prayer:

Life has taken much from Linda Zook. Now she dares to hope for a chance at love and a new beginning.

Linda Zook, 32, works part-time at the Lancaster Grand Hotel. As the sole survivor of a buggy accident that left her orphaned at age four, she was raised by her unwilling Uncle Reuben. Linda longs to be worthy of someone, but the life-long effects of her injuries and her upbringing under the care of her embittered uncle have destroyed her self-worth.

Aaron Ebersol, 32, left the Amish community 17 years ago when he could no longer bear the restrictions or the constant tension with his father. He d written too many unanswered letters to his mother and found himself incapable of putting down any roots in his new home in Missouri. Success in work could not replace the family that denied Aaron, even after all of these years.

Aaron hastily returns to the Amish community of Paradise, PA, after receiving word of his mother’s stroke. Hesitant to get too close to the family he was once a part of, he decides to stay at the Heart of Paradise Bed & Breakfast. He soon encounters Linda, working there part-time, and they begin to develop a friendship.

Aaron’s return allows him to reconnect with his family as he jumps into home improvement projects, hoping to make his parents house more accessible to his handicapped mother. But before long, he is enraged to learn that his brother, Solomon, had hidden all of Aaron’s letters to their mother.

Linda and Aaron must each learn to forgive the family members who have deceived and forsaken them. And Aaron must also show Linda that she is worthy of his love.

Moving to Pennsylvania wasn’t in Madeleine’s original plans. She should still be in California and should have married her pilot fiance a year ago-but death has a way of changing everything.

Now the former Air Force flight nurse is living alone in Paradise, Pennsylvania, and working as a maid at the Lancaster Grand Hotel. She isn’t exactly a widow . . . but she sure feels like one.

Saul Beiler isn’t exactly a widower . . . but his wife is long gone. His eleven-year-old daughter, Emma, doesn’t know that her mother fled the Amish community-and married another man-but she does know that her dat is lonely, and that a pretty young maedel just moved in next door.

Madeline’s numb heart begins to thaw as she spends more time with the innocent and ever optimistic Emma. The stronger her friendship grows with the young girl, the more intrigued Madeline grows about the humble, strong, man raising her on his own.

But even as a strange attraction pulls Saul and Madeleine across a stark cultural divide, they-and everybody else-have to wonder: What could they possibly have in common besides heartache? Will love allow Madeleine to finally find the home she’s been dreaming of all along?

“The Love Letters” – A Wonderful NEW Stand alone novel by Beverly Lewis

Has Beverly Lewis ever written a book that wasn’t just AWESOME…

I don’t think so!

Beverly Lewis have written another amazing book – one that I will read and re-read for years to come.

Beverly Lewis has an amazing talent for tackling tough subjects.

She tells us a phenomenal story about something that is very much an every-day type occurrence – but she does it in such a way that takes that ordinary story to the extraordinary.

What begins as a favor to her parents, turns into something else entirely when Marlena must care for her sister’s child while she is in the hospital.

All the little twists and turns and inside-outs you would never expect from what sounds simple at the start, are what make Beverly Lewis such a masterful storyteller!

READ IT! You won’t be sorry!

What Baker Publishing has to say about “Love Letters”

Marlena needed time to let things sink in. It was beyond her how all this could possibly work out–adding the care of an infant to her daily routine. Fortunately, it would just be until Luella returned home from the hospital and was stronger.

No more than a couple weeks, surely…

Marlena Wenger’s life takes an unexpected turn on the day she learns she must care for her estranged sister’s baby. Spending the summer in Brownstown, Pennsylvania, to assist her Mennonite grandmother, and miles from Marlena’s Old Order Amish beau, she feels out of her element in nearly every respect. Yet Marlena determines to do her best and stay focused on her future, even as those hopes become drastically altered.

Have you read it?

It still may be my favorite of the series — even as wonderful as books 3 and 4 are…

God Bless You!

In A Mother’s Secret—the second book in a wonderful Amish series by bestselling author Amy Clipston—Carolyn Lapp dreams of marrying for love. But will the errors of her past destroy this dream forever?

Carolyn Lapp longs to have a traditional Amish family. But she lives on her brother’s farm with her parents and her 15-year old son, Benjamin. Carolyn has never revealed the identity of Benjamin’s father and lives daily with the guilt and shame of her youthful indiscretion. Her brother simply will not forgive her. His answer is to arrange a practical marriage for Carolyn to Saul, a widower with a little girl. But Carolyn isn’t convinced that Saul really loves her and believes he is simply looking for someone to help raise his daughter.

When Benjamin causes trouble at a local horse auction, horse breeder Joshua Glick decides that he must be taught a lesson. Carolyn and Joshua are unmistakably drawn to each other, but Joshua mistakenly assumes that Benjamin is Carolyn’s brother. Carolyn fears that if he discovers the truth, her past will destroy their budding romance.

After years of shame and loneliness, Carolyn suddenly has two men vying for her attention. But which of them will give her the family—and the unconditional love—she’s longed for?

Miriam’s Secret by Jerry Eicher | Land of Promise #1

Miriam’s Secret is the first book in Jerry’s NEW Land of Promise series.

Jerry Eicher has begun another wonderful, true to life Amish series!

As usual, it’s full of emotion and difficult choices…

When the man Miriam is hired to care for dies, she is surprised to learn that she has inherited a huge fortune, along with his family farm.

Having grown up in an Amish home and teaching in Amish schoolhouses, Jerry Eicher knows very well the ways of an Amish community. This is such a unique situation – I can’t imagine this happens often to young Amish girls.

But you can see her faith in the choices she makes…

I don’t want to give anything away, so I’m going to tread lightly here… but it’s a great story!

From the first word, this story will draw you in – and it won’t let you go until the last page. Whether it is the superb writing or the wonderful plot, you will find this book impossible to put down… and if you’re like me, you’ll be wishing the second book was available the moment you finish the first book!

Don’t miss this wonderful new series – the Land of Promise!

Here is a brief synopsis from Harvest House Publishers:

Bestselling author Jerry S. Eicher (more than 600,000 books sold) brings new characters and surprising challenges to lovers of Amish fiction in the Land of Promise series.

In this first book, Miriam Yoder has a secret. Her compassionate care for Amos Bland during his last days resulted in her receiving a large inheritance. When Ivan Mast indicates his intentions at romance, Miriam suspects he’s discovered her hidden wealth and has plans that aren’t inspired by his love for her.

Seeking a fresh start where no one knows her, Miriam accepts a teaching position in faraway Oklahoma where she meets Wayne Yutzy, a local greenhouse employee. His interest in her seems genuine and when he proposes, Miriam accepts. Happiness surely awaits the newly engaged couple….or does it?

I refuse to spoil this book for you but I will tell you that A Faith of Her Own is most unlike any other story of it’s kind that I have read.

Most authors who write about a young person potentially leaving the Amish community write from the perspective that it would simply be the end of the world… or from the perspective that they really have no other options.

Kathleen Fuller doesn’t do that. She comes at the situation from so many angles, it has a ring of truth to it that is almost shocking.

This is a book that ANYONE who enjoys Amish fiction should DEFINITELY read!

And I really really hope the “A Middlefield Amish Novel” means there will be sequels to come! There are SO many characters I am dying to know more about… not just the two main ones – and that may not be different from other books of it’s kind but it is really exciting!

{MORE ABOUT A FAITH OF HER OWN}

Jeremiah thought leaving Middlefield was the hardest thing he’d ever do. That was nothing compared to returning home.

When Jeremiah left his Amish community to pursue his dream of becoming a veterinarian, he left more than just his faith behind—he walked away from his family and his childhood friend, Anna Mae. Now that he’s returned to help out his mentor and work in a Yankee veterinarian practice, Jeremiah must face his past—and the people he betrayed.

Anna Mae had finally put the loss of Jeremiah and the broken vow between them behind her. Even though she supported her best friend’s pursuit of his dream, she never let on how his departure left her questioning her own place in the Amish world. With his return, new questions arise, along with feelings she’d never fully acknowledged before.

As their rekindled friendship begins to turn into something more, Jeremiah and Anna Mae must examine their own faith and their relationship with each other and their families. With both of them torn between loyalty to their loved ones and being pulled in different directions, they must decide whether to heed God’s call, even if it means being apart forever.

THE PROMISE OF PALM GROVE BY SHELLEY SHEPARD GRAY | BOOK 1 of her NEW series – Amish Brides of Pinecraft

Don’t miss Shelley Shepard Gray’s new series, Amish Brides of Pinecraft, and the first book in the series, The Promise of Palm Grove!

Romantic Times said, “Vibrant descriptions and details bring the plot to life in this heartwarming tale of new beginnings and renewal.” Does Leona follow the path set out before her? Or take a chance with only the promise of what could be to guide her?

Promise of Palm Grove

Oh my word. Every time I picked up this book… I had the hardest time putting it down.

Alas, the children dragged me away a few times to do things like teach school and attend to my own writing.

WHERE IS THE JUSTICE… 😉

The one really good thing is that is that the story distracted me into doing several more minutes of exercise several different times while reading – no way they were taking it away then! HA! Only the intense cramping in my legs pulled my attention away. LOL

Shelley Shepard Gray has another HIT on her hands with The Promise of Palm Grove!

What a wonderful story, so intricately woven around, not just the main characters – but including so many wonderful secondary characters. Something Shelley does like no other author.

WELL DONE Shelley! I can hardly wait for book 2! Is May here yet…

The Promise of Palm Grove
(Avon Inspire, January 2015)

Leona must decide: Does she follow the path set out before her? Or take a chance with only the promise of what could be to guide her?

A young Amish woman finds herself torn between the man she’s pledged to wed and the man her heart desires in this heartwarming story of chance, duty, and choice in the face of love—the first volume in the beloved New York Times bestselling author’s new Amish Brides of Pinecraft series.

Amish bride-to-be Leona is thrilled to be in Florida, on a mini-vacation in the pretty town of Pinecraft. Her girlfriends think she’s happy because she’s away from the stress of wedding planning. They have no idea that Leona’s real joy is in being away from her fiancé.

Edmund is a good man, and will make a decent husband . . . just not for Leona. The more time she spends with him and his overbearing ways, the less she wants to be his wife. Her cousins are sure Edmund is the right man for her-and their certainty makes Leona begin to doubt herself. But when a chance encounter with a wayward cat brings her face-to-face with a handsome, fun-loving Amish man named Zachary Kauffman, Leona’s faced with two vastly different futures.
